Key Issues - Five Big Es

Effectiveness

We need effective representation to address our district’s needs.

I will be effective at the Legislature.  As a mother, I have the motivation and ability to ensure we plan ahead for the benefit of all our keiki.  As an attorney, I know how to draft laws so they make sense, are enforceable, and accomplish our goals.  I am a hard worker and have the energy to make sure our district’s needs are met.

Economy

With a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (University of California, Santa Cruz) and a Master’s Degree in Agricultural and Resource Economics (University of California, Berkeley), I have the background necessary to tackle the challenges facing the families in our district.

I will work to keep energy use and costs down and address global warming concerns by promoting local businesses to allow Hawai'i to become a world leader for solar, wind, and ocean energy technology.

And C and D -  Crime and drug use

I will promote public safety by making sure that law enforcement agencies have the tools they need to do their jobs, including maintaining a presence and increasing enforcement of drug laws and speed limits in our neighborhoods. I will support programs aimed at reducing crystal methamphetamine use and addiction through prevention, education, treatment, rehabilitation and reintegration programs.
